Frequently Asked Questions

Is enrollment open?

The first day of school for the 2023-2024 school year is September 5, 2023.  While our space is limited, we do still have space for the 2023-2024 school year.  Families can submit an interest form via our admissions page for current enrollment information.

We offer Enrichment classes to local homeschool students.  These classes run every quarter.

What is a covenant school?

Legacy Christian Academy is a covenant school that serves Christian families. This means that at least one parent in each family has a personal relationship with Christ and is involved in a local church.

A covenant school partners with families and their churches to grow and nurture the faith and Christian walk of their children.  This covenant relationship provides a consistent commitment to the truth of scripture whether the child is at home or at school.

Will LCA be licensed & accredited?

We are licensed with the Nevada Department of Education as an Exempt Private School under NRS 394.211.

All of our staff are licensed and highly qualified teachers who love Jesus.   We are a member of ACTS and intend to pursue accreditation with this agency. For more information about ACTS, go to our resources page.

What curriculum will you use?

Legacy Christian Academy uses the BJU Press Biblical Worldview shaping curriculum.  We use the BJU Press Bible, Math, Reading/Literature, Spelling, Grammar/English, Math, Heritage Studies/History, and Science curriculum.

BJU Press publishes academically rigorous Christian textbooks that teach a biblical worldview and encourage critical thinking.

Will LCA offer before & afterschool programs?

Our school day starts at 8:15.  We offer early drop off for families at 7:30.

At this point, we do not offer an afterschool care program.  We are working with another ministry on our campus for afterschool care options, if the interest increases.

Will students take standardized testing?

LCA will administer both formative and summative classroom assessments.

We will also administer the IOWA Test to our students during the 4th quarter.

What is a Biblical Worldview?

A Biblical worldview (or a Christian worldview) is a worldview based on God’s unchanging, inerrant Word. It is the framework of ideas and beliefs through which a Christian individual, group or culture interprets the world and interacts with it.

Since God is the Creator of everything in heaven and earth, He is the standard for truth. God is all-powerful,  all-knowing, and unchanging.

Does our family need to agree with ALL aspects of LCA's Statement of Faith?

Yes. LCA partners with families to provide an excellent learning environment, where a Biblical worldview is emphasized in every aspect of the learning experience. This includes our Statement of Faith.

In turn, by partnering with LCA, parents/guardians commit to upholding these standards of faith and practice outside of LCA, allowing students the best opportunity for a transformative educational experience.

Do you follow the Common Core Standards?

Legacy Christian Academy does not follow the Common Core Standards. We follow a standard aligned with Biblical Truth and academic excellence.

We teach our students according to best practices, Biblical Truth and the unique needs of our students as they seek God's purpose and plan for their lives.

What will tuition be and is there financial assistance?

The tuition for the 2023-2024 school year is located on our admissions page.

Legacy Christian Academy is committed to working with families individually to ensure that a Christian education for their children is within their means.  We are pursuing both in house and outside tuition assistance options and funding for families.

Is Legacy affiliated with a church?

LCA is not affiliated with any one particular church in our area or a specific Christian denomination. Students and families are requested to sign a Statement of Faith prior to enrollment and annually thereafter.

It is our goal to partner with churches in our area through education as they disciple their congregations.

Will students wear uniforms?

Yes, students are required to wear uniforms.  The uniform link can be found by clicking here or via our families tab on our site.
